Satsop Indians

The Satsop Indians, part of the coastal division of the Salishan linguistic family and often associated with the Lower Chehalis, historically resided along the Satsop River, a branch of the Chehalis. Their population, typically recorded alongside the Chehalis, was counted at 12 in 1888. The Satsop name is preserved in the Satsop River and a village in Grays Harbor County, though their overall significance remains largely unrecognized.
