Manso Tribe
The Manso Indians were a sedentary tribe originally situated near El Paso, Texas. They adopted reed and wood constructions for their homes and exhibited social structures akin to the Pueblos. Divided into clans named after corn colors, they show relations to the Tigua through intermarriage. They were settled at El Paso by Spanish missionaries in the mid-17th century, with a mission established in 1668. Despite their decline to a small population, they preserve aspects of their cultural organization and traditions shared with the northern Pueblos.
