Entered service July 1, 1916, at Oxford, Sent to Camp Sevier, S. C., transferred to Camp Mills, L. I., N. Y. Sailed for France May 26, 1918. Promoted to rank of Major July 13, 1917. Fought at St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, Woevre Plain (Verdun Sector) July 16th. On Mexican border. Was discharged from N. G. and called back into service.
