Biographical Sketch of George Lear

George Lear was born in 1820 in Todd County to George and Nancy Lear. He began his independent life at twenty-five, acquiring a farm in 1860. After a brief service in the army, where he became disabled due to measles, he focused on farming and land transactions. He married Julia A. Stevenson in 1856, and they had five children: three daughters and two sons. Lear is recognized as a respected settler in the county, with his children continuing the family lineage.
