Soon after World War 1 localities across the country wished to honor the men and women who had served the Nation from their locality. St. Charles County, Missouri, is one of these counties. This manuscript isn’t limited to just the men who fought overseas, it also includes the women who had participated via Red Cross and the men who had actively served in the various campaigns backing the War here at home.
The series contains original affidavits of registration that record personal information about each registrant, their photograph affixed to the majority of documents, and the registrants fingerprints. All of these are specific to Kansas, and most have the actual documents attached.
History of Kossuth, Hancock, and Winnebago Counties, Iowa together with sketches of their cities, villages and townships, educational, civil, military and political history; portraits of prominent persons, and 638 biographies of representative citizens. Also included is a history of Iowa embracing accounts of the pre-historic races, and a brief review of its civil and military history.
F. E. Lange, a native of Saxony, immigrated to America in 1852, where he initially worked in cabinet-making and car-building. He arrived in Burt County, Nebraska, in May 1855 as one of the first six settlers, participating in the construction of the county’s first buildings. He dedicated the Golden Spring on his farm in 1857, and was involved in local governance, serving multiple terms as a County Commissioner and continually participating in the School Board since its inception.
