Joseph William Jaensch was born on September 11, 1917 in Eatonville, Columbia County, Washington. He was born to Charles Franklin Jaensch Sr. and Josephine (Reichmuth) Jaensch. When he was a youngster the Jaensch family moved to Enterprise (Alder Slope) where he grew up and attended school until WWII when he joined the Army Air Force and flew B-24 bombers. He was in training at Marfa, Texas when he met his future wife, Irene. After the war was over he lived in El Paso, Texas as this was where Irene’s family was from. February 3, 1949 Charles Jaensch Dies at Hospital Charles Jaensch passed away at the hospital in Enterprise Tuesday afternoon. He has been in the hospital since Friday and had been failing for the past year. Mr. Jaensch was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on August 1, 1886. He was married in Tacoma, Washington in 1911 to Josephine Reichmuth to which this union two sons were born. Charles Franklin of Portland and Joseph William of El Paso, Texas, two grandsons also survive. Mr. Jaensch spent most of his life in Wallowa county since 1919. Joseph William Jaensch

2nd Lt. Joseph W. Jaensch is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jaensch Sr. of Alder Slope. He was born at Eatonville, Wash, on Sept 10, 1917 and attended grade school at Hurricane Creek, Alder, Reavis and Enterprise. He graduated from the senior high school at Nampa, Idaho in 1935. He took vocal lessons from Stephen Jenick for over three years and has done some singing on the radio.
