Funeral services for Diane L. Haefer, 34, will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Dayville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Cheifetz officiating. Interment will follow at the Dayville Cemetery. Mrs.Haefer, of Union, died Sunday in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 86, about 29 miles east of Baker. Cove, Union County, Oregon Agnes Haefer, 81, Cove, died Monday at Valley View Manor. Mrs. Haefer was born Feb. 20, 1897, in North Powder, the daughter of Mathias and Matilda (Harrison) Simonis. She was a member of the Cove Calvary Baptist Church and had resided in Cove for the past 60 years. Survivors include her son, Carson H. Haefer, Cove; brothers Ernest Simonis of North Powder, Laurence Simonis of Milwaukie, Ore.; sisters Eunice Smith of North Powder, Ellen Timpy of Union and Ethel Follett of Elgin; a grandson, Roger Haefer, Portland; and two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Haefer, Laura – Obituary

Elgin, Oregon Laura Haefer, 92, of La Grande died Thursday at a local care center. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday Aug. 28 at the Island City Cemetery. Laura was born Aug. 3, 1914 the daughter of Ralph B. and Alice (Ayars) Smith on Pumpkin Ridge near Elgin. She attended school in a one-room school house on Pumpkin Ridge before later graduating from Elgin High School. After high school she married Fritz Ott but the marriage ended in divorce.
