The wills in this book come from Book A of the Wills found at the Logan County Court house in Russellville, Kentucky. The information was extracted in 1957 by Mrs. Vick on behalf of the DAR located in Russellville. The text in this book was done with an old manual typewriter and has the usual faint and filled-in type often found with such papers. On top of the difficulty in interpreting the print from the typewriter, the scanning process was also deficient, and led to the creation of a faint digital copy exacerbating the difficult to read text.

Dr. Frank DeVore Gorham, born on August 2, 1888, in Cloverdale, Indiana, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Indiana in 1910 and earned his M.D. from Washington University, St. Louis, in 1912. A specialist in internal medicine, he began his practice in 1916 and served in World War I as chief of medical service in France. Dr. Gorham is affiliated with various medical societies and clubs and is married to Lillian Hawley. He continues to contribute to the medical field in St. Louis.

Gorham, Sarah A. – Obituary

Sarah A. Gorham, mother of Jack Gorham and Enolia Brothers, passed away on July 26, 1934, in Texas, while visiting relatives. She was a long-time member of the Methodist church and had lived many years in Mexico, where her husband, Franklin P. Gorham, was murdered in 1919. Born on January 31, 1859, in Arkansas, she married Franklin in 1875 and raised eleven children. She had returned to the U.S. for visits but planned to return to Mexico. Mrs. Gorham is mourned by her children and siblings.

Gorham, Violet May – Obituary

Violet May Gorham, aged 89, passed away on May 23, 1993, in Cove, Oregon. Born on May 8, 1904, she graduated from Cove High School and later earned a teaching degree from Monmouth College. She married Henry Oscar Gorham in 1926, and together they operated the Cove Store. A devoted member of the Cove United Methodist Church, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and needlework. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services are set for May 26 at the church, followed by interment at Cove Cemetery.

R. D. Gorham

1st Lt. R. D. Gorham served in Company H of the 3rd Pioneer Infantry from Edgecombe County. He joined the military on May 14, 1917, and underwent training at several camps before being deployed to France on August 30, 1918. Promoted to his rank on July 25, 1918, he participated in the Meuse-Argonne offensive, where he was responsible for hauling ammunition. Gorham returned to the United States on July 30, 1919, and was mustered out on August 15, 1919, at Camp Lee, Virginia.

J. C. Gorham

J. C. Gorham, a seaman from Edgecombe County, was the son of D. and Mary A. Gorham. He enlisted in the Navy on October 11, 1917, in Norfolk, Virginia, and was subsequently stationed at Cape Charles. During his service, he was assigned to Submarine Chaser 121. Gorham completed his service and was mustered out on March 18, 1919, at Norfolk.

Gorham, Henry O. – Obituary

Henry O. Gorham, a prominent citizen of North Powder, passed away at 92 after a decline in health over two years following an accident. Born on December 29, 1835, in Kentucky, he traveled west in 1863 and settled in Baker City, Oregon. Gorham engaged in freighting before farming and operating a general store in North Powder. He married Mary Ann Nelson in 1870, and they had several children. His funeral was conducted by the Odd Fellows lodge, and he was buried in North Powder cemetery.
