Wallowa, Oregon Mrs. W.R. Breshears Dies at Hospital Mrs. W. Reuben Breshears of Wallowa died Friday morning, April 10, 1942, at the Enterprise hospital where she had been a patient for the past week. She was sixty five years of age and had not been well for a long time. Mrs. Breshears was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and from there moved to Springfield, Illinois. She was married in 1905. Union, Union County, Oregon Jay Breshears’ Funeral Is Held Monday at Elgin Jay Breshears, brother of Sheriff Jesse Breshears and a well known Grande Ronde valley resident whose home was between Alicel and Lower Cove, died Saturday afternoon at the Grande Ronde hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the city hall at Elgin, with burial in the Elgin cemetery with Snodgrass and Zimmerman in charge of arrangements. Elgin, Oregon John H. Breshears, 64, of Hayward, Calif. and formerly of Elgin died May 20. A graveside services in Elgin will be announced at a later date. A memorial service in Hayward will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday June 4. Machado’s Hillside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Pioneer Succumbs After Illness – Made Wagon Trek With Parents  William Reuben Breshears, 83-year-old retired farmer and railroad man, died at 5:15 a.m., today at a local hospital after a long illness. He was born October 1, 1860, in Dallas County, Missouri, and had lived in Wallowa and Union counties for 67 years, having crossed the plains in an oxen-drawn covered wagon in 1878 with his parents, when he was 17.
