Allender, George – Obituary

Largely attended funeral services were held Friday for the late George Allender, who passed away at the home of his son, Lawrence, north of Lockridge, on November 13. At ten-thirty a short service was held at the house. Pastor Frank Weston of the First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, read the scriptures and spoke from Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Pastor J. A. Cochrane of the Lockridge Baptist Church made a prayer. Allender, Jane Messer

This section of Iowa lost one of its best women on Sunday, March 5, 1922, when Mrs. George Allender died at her home four miles north of Lockridge. She was sick but a little while with her fatal illness which was heart trouble, though she had been afflicted with weakness of the heart for several years. Her end came unexpectedly to her friends and neighbors. Deceased was before her marriage, Jane Messer, a daughter of John and Rhoda (Miller) Messer, and was born in Henry County, Iowa in October 1853. Obituary of Benjamin Bowen Allender

B. B. Allender, an old citizen of this county, died at his home near the southeast corner of Trenton township on last Thursday evening [June 22, 1882]. He was a man of sterling integrity, respected and esteemed by all who knew him and will be sadly missed in the neighborhood where he lived. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon. Ida Amelia Bates [Allender] was born in Lahaston, Germany, April 12, 1846. Departed this life at the home of her daughter Mrs. Homer Zingg, March 27, 1914, aged 67 years, 11 months and 15 days. She was united in marriage to John Wesley Allender, Apr. 27, 1865, the husband having departed this life September 14, 1906. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter.
