(See Hendricks and Ghigau)-Jasper Newton, son of Jasper and Susan Jane (Schrimsher) Adkirson, was born Tahlequah District in 1869, educated at Male Seminary. Married Susie Hendricks. They were the parents of: Clare, Thomas, Catherine, Paralee, Pollie, Susie and Nellie Adkirson. Mr. Adkirson married Nancy Jane Phillips nee Stephens. They are the parents of Jasper Adkirson. Mr. Adkirson is a farmer, an A. H. T. A. and justice of the peace.

Whatever may be their origins in antiquity, the Cherokees are generally thought to be a Southeastern tribe, with roots in Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, among other states, though many Cherokees are identified today with Oklahoma, to which they had been forcibly removed by treaty in the 1830s, or with the lands of the Eastern Band of Cherokees in western North Carolina.
