Jeffrey Troy Smith
Jeffrey T. Smith, infant son of Pvt. And Mrs. Arley E. Smith, died at his home Sunday night. Pvt. Smith is stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana with the U.S. Army, Mrs. Smith is living at 367 S. 5th in Elgin.

Jeffrey was born August 24, 1969 in Pendleton, Oregon.

He is survived by his parents, grandparents, Arthur and Ethel Smith of Elgin; Edna Sams, Adams, Ore.; Emery Bronson, Pendleton; great grandparents, Annie Shoesmith, Longview, Washington; Sarah Bronson, Pendleton and Hallie Cross, Elgin and aunts and uncles.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Elgin Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Miller of the Elgin Nazarene Church officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel.

Jeffrey Troy Smith Laid To Rest
Graveside services were held Thursday at the Elgin Cemetery for Jeffrey Troy Smith, 4-month-old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Arley Smith. The baby boy passed away quite unexpectedly at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Smith, early Monday morning. The younger Mrs. Smith had been living with the grandparents while Arley is in the army.

Jeffrey was born August 24, 1969 in Pendleton. He is survived by his parents; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Sams of Adams; maternal grandfather, Emery Bronson of Pendleton; maternal great-grandmothers, Annie Shoesmith and Sarah Bronson, both of Longview, Wash.; paternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Art Smith and paternal great-grandfather, Hal Smith, all of Elgin; several uncles and aunts, and one cousin.

[NOTE: Jeffrey Troy Smith was the great-great-grandson of Absalom Buford Charlie (A.B.C.) and Mary Ann (Frazer) Smith pioneers of Elgin, Oregon.]
