Apprentice Seaman, 1st Co., 7th Reg., Blue Jacket Guards. Born in Moore County, N.C., July 27, 1900; son of J. E. and Dora Patterson. Entered the service at Raleigh, N.C., June 17, 1918, and sent to Naval Training Station, Newport, R. I. Account of measles, influenza and rheumatism, was sent to hospital, and out of 14 months in the Navy, 12 months were spent in the hospital. Was in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital at Washington, D. C. Discharged at Washington, D. C., 38% disability, Aug. 12, 1919.
