Chester Glen Comstock, 56, of La Grande, died Dec. 5 at a care home in La Grande from complications of cancer. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Cemetery. Loveland Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
Born May 15, 1950, in Seattle, Chester spent his childhood in St. Paul, Minn., graduating from high school and attending vocational school there, where he participated on the wrestling team.
He married and had two children, and was then inducted into the Army, where he served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
He divorced and moved to Oregon in the mid-1970s. He joined the LDS Church where he met and married Melada Lee Doney on May 10, 1983.
In 1989 the couple moved to Pendleton for 15 years, returning to La Grande in 2004.
Mr. Comstock was a devoted husband, a hard worker and a good friend. He enjoyed gardening, animals and mechanics.
He is survived by his wife, Melada, of La Grande; a son, Travis; and a daughter, Amy, of St. Paul, Minn.; and a sister, Linda Wesley of Coon Rapids, Minn.
