JOSEPH TRUESDALE. – The name Truesdale is so well known throughout Oregon as designating the captain of the plains as to need little introduction here. The son Joseph was born in Illinois in 1850, and two years later made the journey to California with his father and mother, the latter of whom died the same year; while the former returned to Illinois in 1855, taking the boy with him. H. W. STRATTON, the subject of this sketch, after a number of years spent in business in Ohio, was ordained to the ministry in 1866 over the same church of which his father had been pastor nearly a quarter of a century. Soon afterwards he began preaching in Kansas, continuing five years, and in 1871 came to Oregon, ministering to the Presbyterian and Congregational churches united at Albany. Loney of Lowden; mother of Mrs. Irvin Alexander of Freewater, Mrs. Guy Kent of Walla Walla, Miss Violet Loney of Lowden, William C., Edwin J., Herbert R., Orval, Albert, Delbert, Virgil, and Earl Loney, all of Walla Walla. Born December 11, 1873 at Weston. Member of White Temple Baptist Church. Remains at Marshall, Callaway & Hennessey Funeral Home. Funeral notice later.
