Union, Union County, Oregon With feelings of sorrow we announce the death of Amos K. Jones, editor of the Oregon Scout and postmaster at Union, Oregon, which occurred at his home in Union on Monday night, January 2nd, 1900, from congestion of the lungs, the result of a previous illness. He was a man who always appreciated a favor shown him, especially by members of the craft, and was ever ready and anxious to return it when opportunity offered. Petersen was born July 3, 1936, in Baker to Gerald Petersen and Lula Davis Cantrell. Price Gates, 67, died Tuesday morning in the St. Elizabeth hospital following a weeks illness. Mr. Gates lived in Union county for a number of years and was well known throughout eastern Oregon, especially as a trainer of race horses. Mr. Gates was born in St. Clair county, Missouri, January 16, 1861and crossed the plains in 1879. He is survived by a son, W.E. The family will hold a potluck wake in her honor on Saturday, March 19, at noon at the Baker County Extension Building, 2610 Grove Street in Baker City. Midge was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Palmer, Idaho, to Archer Bradford Wayne and Irene Hack Wayne. She had three brothers and two sisters. Union, Union County, Oregon Dr. D. Y. K. Deering, an old-time resident of Union, well and favorably known in Union and Baker counties, died at Long Beach, California, March 18, 1927. His funeral was held March 20, interment was in the Long Beach cemetery. Dr. Deering was one time Sheriff of Union county, and a prominent figure in eastern Oregon politics.
