Ute Tribe
The Ute Indians are a significant Shoshonean group, historically inhabiting parts of Colorado and Utah. They were known as a warlike tribe with no agricultural practices and lacked detailed social structures, although they formed a confederacy under Chief Tabby. Their territory was subject to numerous treaties and land cessions from the mid-19th century onwards. The Utes consisted of various bands, which underwent significant changes in population and land ownership due to external pressures and agreements with the United States government.
