Loney, Hazel Eva Long – Obituary

Mrs. Hazel L. Loney, 61, of Touchet died Friday [May 28, 1971] in a local nursing home following an extended illness. She was a life long resident of Touchet. Born Nov. 3, 1909, in Touchet, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Rhoda Long and was educated in the Touchet schools. On Dec. 23, 1939, she married Herbert R. Loney in Walla Walla. He died Aug. 16, 1967. Mrs. Loney is survived by three sons, Darrell a. Loney of Touchet, Oran D. Loney of Clarkston, and Donald D. White, Morris – Obituary

Mr. And Mrs. E. O. Zerek returned Tuesday from Touchet , Washington, where they were called last Friday by the death of their brother-in-law, Morris White. Mr. White who retired Thursday night apparently as well as usual was found dead in bed Friday morning, no sign whatever of the slightest struggle; he always expected to pass away in this manner. Loney, William David – Obituary

William D. Loney, 81-year-old retired farmer of the valley, resident of the community since 1882, died Friday morning [April 19] in a local nursing home. He was born September 3, 1864 in Ontario, Canada, but had been hereabouts for nearly 65 years. He farmed in the Hudson Bay District south of Lowden for many years, retiring from active work about 1942. His wife, member of the pioneer Stroble family, died December 29, 1931. Cole, Claud Lindford – Obituary

Joseph, Wallowa County, Oregon Claud was the eldest child of Maud Ruthanar Burnap and Robert Lindford Cole. He was born at Prairie Creek, Oregon on August 24, 1888. Claud’s name sake was his paternal grandmother Catherine Lindford, 3rd wife of Rev. William Person Cole, AKA Wiley P. Cole Sr. His elementary schooling was started there and completed in Touchet, Washington, and in Lost Prairie, Oregon where he graduated from the eight grade. E.M. KINNEAR. – The mercantile house of Mr. Kinnear is one of the largest and most patronized in this part of the territory. Its owner and founder is a native of Ohio, where he was born in 1856.
