The series contains original affidavits of registration that record personal information about each registrant, their photograph affixed to the majority of documents, and the registrants fingerprints. All of these are specific to Kansas, and most have the actual documents attached.

Biography of George W. Akers

George W. Akers, born March 20, 1839, in Indiana, moved to Kansas in 1863, establishing a dual career in medicine and ministry. After graduating in medicine, he practiced in Paola before becoming a Methodist minister, serving various congregations until health issues led him back to medicine. He was also involved in journalism and served as postmaster of Stafford. A political figure, he actively supported the Republican Party. Married to Margaret Steele, they had four children, including Earl Akers, who became state treasurer of Kansas.

Biography of Charles M. Hilleary

Charles M. Hilleary, born on May 28, 1879, in Bourbon County, Kansas, hails from a pioneer family with roots tracing back to colonial Virginia. After early education and teaching in Stafford County, he became principal at various high schools and, in 1910, superintendent of Humboldt city schools. Known for his progressive approach, he oversees significant enrollment and staff. Hilleary is active in educational associations and Masonic organizations, and he married Bernice M. Carter in 1909, with whom he has two children.

Biography of John G. Land

John G. Land, born May 26, 1878, in Springfield, Missouri, is the Prudential Life Insurance Company manager for Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. Educated in Kansas and Missouri, he worked as a telegraph operator before serving as a first-class sergeant in the U.S. Signal Corps during the Spanish-American War. After years in telegraphy, he joined Prudential in 1907, rising through the ranks. Married to Addie McDuff, they have two children. An active member of several fraternal organizations, Land enjoys fishing and hunting in his leisure time.
