Biographical Sketch of James Justus Roby
James Justus Roby, born on May 16, 1865, in Sherodsville, Ohio, was the son of David and Sarah Justus Roby. He received a common school education and attended International Correspondence Schools. In 1887, he married Della M. Henderson and had two children who are deceased. Roby worked as an agent and superintendent for the Wheeling Lake Erie Railway and Pittsburgh Coal Company, eventually becoming vice president of Roby Coal Company and president of The Short Creek Coal Company. He held several memberships in professional and fraternal organizations.
