MOTHER OF SIX CHILDREN DIES Mrs. Homer Compton, Age 36 Years, Victim of Pneumonia Early Today HOLD FUNERAL SATURDAY Mrs. Alta Compton, age 36 years, wife of Homer Compton, trustee of Hendricks township, died at the Major Hospital at five o’clock this morning of pneumonia. She was taken to the hospital on Memorial Day and her condition had been critical for the past several days. Carl Robert, one-year-old son, is ill at the present time with pneumonia. Mrs. Elva Wasson, wife of Otis Wasson of Flat Rock, died at the W. S. Major hospital at 10:40 o’clock this morning [January 5, 1950]. She had been in a serious condition since becoming ill three weeks ago. A native of Newbern, Mrs. Wasson had resided in Shelby county since childhood. She was born in 1880 and was the daughter of Elisha and Nellie (Parks) McClintic. Her marriage to Mr. Wasson took place in September 1946. Body of Wesley Nading, Former County Resident, Brought Here Funeral services for Wesley Nading, former resident of the Flat Rock community, whose death occurred at Indianapolis yesterday [June 9, 1933], had not been completed today, pending word from a daughter, Mrs. William Marsh, of Detroit. The body was brought to the Charles M. Ewing Funeral Chapel yesterday from Indianapolis. Mr. Nading at the time of death was 74 years of age [June 9, 1933]. In ill health for several years, Claude H. Shaw, died at his home in Noble township, Wednesday evening at 7:10 o’clock. He was 78 years. Mr. Shaw, who was a farmer and had spent the greater past of his life in Shelby county, was born in Butler County, Ohio, on April 18, 1869. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Sarah Cropper, wife of Robert Cropper, died Wednesday night [September 1, 1915] at eight o’clock at her home eight miles south of here. She was fifty-one years old. Death was caused by dropsy. Mode [Moses] D. Compton, fifty-nine years old, well known in this county and city, was found dead in bed early Saturday morning [July 19, 1919] by his wife, who had gone to awaken him at his home one mile east of Edinburg, in Johnson County. Mr. Compton attended the races at Edinburg, Friday, and enjoyed the day. Tragedy interrupted preparations for what would otherwise have been a pleasant family dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sardis McQueen, near Clifford, in Bartholomew county, when Mrs. Emma May Oltman, 52 years old, wife of William A. Oltman, of Jackson township in Shelby county, fell from a kitchen doorway to the hard floor of a fruit cellar below, fracturing her skull and breaking her neck.
