Biography of Presley M. Bruner

Presley M. Bruner, born September 15, 1850, in Chillicothe, Ohio, was a distinguished attorney and former district attorney in Idaho. Descended from German and Scottish ancestry, he was educated at the University of the Pacific and began his law practice in California before relocating to Hailey in 1882. Bruner contributed significantly to the city’s development and held a prominent legal reputation. A former Republican, he became a staunch supporter of the Populist Party. Bruner was also active in various civic organizations, including the Masons and Odd Fellows.

Gray, Nellie Frances – Obituary

Nellie Frances Gray, 91, passed away on May 25, 1993, in Spanaway, Washington. Born on September 25, 1901, in Lenox County, Iowa, she moved to Washington in her youth. Nellie married Ernest Merrell Gray in 1921 and served as post-mistress in Alicel from 1933 to 1939. The couple farmed in Lower Cove and later ran laundries in Salem and Vancouver. After retiring from Santa Clara University, they returned to Woodburn. She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Brown, Alyce J. Mrs. – Obituary

Alyce J. Brown, 92, of Lacey, Washington, passed away on November 6, 2005. She was born on June 14, 1913, in Oakland, California, and married Henry L. Brown in 1934. The couple founded Boulder Park in the Wallowa Mountains, operating it until 1960. Following Henry’s death in 1968, Alyce lived in Morgan Hill, California, before moving to Washington in 2000. She is survived by her son, Barry, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Alyce will be interred beside Henry at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Henry A. Keller, born in Santa Clara in 1859, began his career in telegraphy at a young age, advancing to train dispatcher on the Central Pacific Railroad by eighteen. His experience included notable positions with the Oregon Railway and the Santa Fe Railway. In 1888, he became chief deputy tax collector for San Bernardino County, where he handles official correspondence and bookkeeping. In 1889, he married Miss Willard. Keller’s parents emigrated from Germany in 1848, with his father currently residing in Idaho.

Cash, Neva Eliza Simms Mrs. – Obituary

Neva Eliza Cash, 87, passed away on January 9, 2003, in California. Born on June 22, 1915, in Arkansas, she graduated from school in Little Rock in 1933 and married Alvin M. Cash in 1940. They owned a dry-cleaning business in Portland until retiring to Baker City in 1971. After Alvin’s death in 1988, Neva moved to Salem and then San Jose. She is survived by two daughters, granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held at Grays West Co. Pioneer Chapel.

John D. Daly, born on May 13, 1866, in Canyon City, Oregon, emerged as a prominent businessman in Harney County.
