Haines, Oregon Maude Pearl Coombes, 97, of Haines, died Dec. 8, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Health Services. Disposition was by cremation at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Crematory. Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Baker City Christian Church, 2998 Eighth St. Pastor Roger Scovil of the church will officiate. Mrs. Coombes was born on April 1, 1904, at Pine Hill, Ky., to John Clark and Liza Edwards Johnson. She was the last of 12 children. Nitz, Wilfred Arthur – Obituary

LaGrande, Oregon Wilfred Arthur Nitz, 65, of Hillsboro and formerly of La Grande died May 16. A memorial service was held May 31 in Sherwood. Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Nitz was born Oct. 28, 1940, to the Rev. and Mrs. Carl Nitz in Scheflin. He attended Grant High School and graduated from Concordia High School and attended Concordia Junior College. He graduated from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Ill., and in June 1963, married Judy Berreth. Collins, Elmer R. – Obituary

Enterprise, Oregon Elmer R. Collins, of Republic, Wash., died on June 16, 2007, in Renton, Wash. He was 75. Mr. Collins was born in Minam to Lloyd and Irene Collins on Dec. 20, 1931. He attended schools in Enterprise and Milton Freewater. He joined the Army in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1952 as a staff sergeant. He met and married Kathryn Ann Deaver, in Walla Walla, Wash. and they were married in 1953, where the couple lived for a few years. The couple had two daughters.
