Biography of Alanson Stacy

Alanson Stacy, born in Massachusetts in 1812, was the son of Elisha Stacy and became a notable figure in Port Gibson, New York. He owned one of the first passenger boats on the Erie Canal before turning to farming and serving as poor master. He married Emeline Smith, and they had several children, including Samuel T. Stacy. Samuel followed in his father’s footsteps in canal boating and later transitioned to the grocery business, becoming a postmaster and school trustee in his community.

Biographical Sketch of William F. Garlock

William F. Garlock, born on February 15, 1870, in Manchester, was the son of Cyrus and Laura Garlock. He received his education in local public schools and initially worked as a farmer until 1904, when he shifted to the creamery business and operated a general store in Port Gibson. Appointed postmaster on July 1, 1910, he married Nellie Terry in 1891. They had eight children, including Laura Fern, Alice, Terry, and Dorothy, spanning from 1892 to 1910.
