Henry Gorton, originally from New London, Connecticut, settled on East Sherburne Hill around 1800. In 1837, he moved to North Norwich, where he and his wife later passed away. They had one surviving child, Mary Ann, who married Andrus Pellett and resides in Norwich.

Charles Roswell Hall, born on September 17, 1853, in Guilford, New York, was a significant figure in Albany’s public service. He began his career in education before pursuing law, studying under prominent attorneys. Hall’s dedication led him to roles such as deputy comptroller and deputy superintendent of the banking department. Known for his diligent work, he saved the state substantial funds through careful oversight. A committed Democrat, Hall was active in politics and public speaking. He later transitioned to a legal practice in New York City.
Jonas H. Brooks, a prominent banker from Albany, was born on January 5, 1848, in Rutland, Massachusetts. From a long line of New England ancestry, he pursued a diverse education, initially aspiring to medicine before shifting to teaching and banking. He held various positions, including teller and cashier in notable banks, and became cashier of the Albany City National Bank in 1889. An active member of his community and a devoted Episcopalian, Brooks also enjoyed athletics and was known for his social presence and engaging character. He married Frances S. Patten in 1889.
