Wallowa, Wallowa County, Oregon Services were held Tuesday morning, July 7, in the Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto, Calif., for Earl Jackson Refrow, son of Edward and Mary Renfrow, early pioneers of lower Lost Prairie. He was 77 years of age and had been in failing health for some time, although he didn’t enter the Oakdale Hospital until a few days before his death. The services were conducted by Rev. Frances D. Lew, 88, a former Baker County resident, died Feb. 23, 2007, at Modesto, Calif. Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson, Calif. Frances was born on Oct. 20, 1918, at Baker City to Waldo Russell and Ella Afton Weitz Vaughn. She moved from Baker City to Keating Valley at the age of 9. Irene A. Ormsby, 90, of Grass Valley died Friday [October 15, 1993] in a local medical facility. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday and entombment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. Mrs. Ormsby was born Sept. 27, 1903, in Selma to David M. and Emma Newstrom. Former Ellensburg area resident Hilda G. Rader, 90, died Monday [January 16, 1984] following a short illness in Modesto, Calif. She had been living in California with her son and daughter-in-law since 1980 She was born in Freeport, Ill., on Jan. 3, 1894, one of eight children of Christian and Marie Brunn. Her father emigrated from Sweden in the early 1880’s and her mother, Marie Horz [Hertz], was a native of Germany.
