Union, Oregon Robert Linton Mudd, 87, of Union, died Nov. 15, 2001, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. There was a celebration of life service in his honor today at Loveland Funeral Chapel in La Grande. Pastor Ray Bates and assistant paster Jim Meyers of the Sonrise Free Methodist Church officiated. Mr. Mudd was born on May 14, 1914, to Jacob and Grace Quible Mudd in Bassett, Neb. He moved to Union from Crawfordsville 25 years ago. Mr. Mudd enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941. J.H. SETTLEMIER. – Mr. Settlemier was born on the 5th of February, 1840, in Jersey county, Illinois. In 1849 his parents, George and Elizabeth Settlemier, becoming imbued with the restless spirit that possessed all the pioneers of the Pacific coast, and, selling their home, turned their faces towards the setting sun. Byron Bilyeu, 74, of Kingston, died Sunday at his home. Funeral services will be in Albany, Ore. He was born on Aug. 26, 1896 in Scio, Ore. He was a retired carpenter from the Southern Pacific Railroad and was a member of Junction City Lodge No. 128, F&AM; and the Multnomah Chapter No. 1, Royal Arch Masons of Salem, Ore. John Wesley Kinzer, 79, lifelong resident of Linn county, died at a Lebanon nursing home Monday evening [November 14, 1955]. He was born at Crabtree on April 10, 1876, and married Rose Jane Bilyeu in 1900. Mr. Kinzer was a retired farmer. Surviving are a son, Lyle C. Kinzer of Lyons, a daughter Mrs. Reta Beebe of Eugene; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. J.L. (Taylor) Savage Dies At Haines Mrs. J.L. Savage, a pioneer of 1852 died Sunday at her home four and a half miles west of Haines. Virgil L. Calavan, 75, former Albany mayor who was active in civic affairs here for many years, died Friday morning in a Corvallis hospital after a long illness. Mr. Calavan was the former owner of a drug store in East Albany which is now Lammers’ Pharmacy. After selling the East Albany store he operated Mason’s Drug Store in downtown Albany, which is now owned by Gerald Steele. He had lived in Corvallis since 1946. Bilyeu, George Franklin – Obituary

At the residence of his parents, in Scio, on Saturday, December 13, 1890, George Franklin Bilyeu, aged 30 years. The immediate cause of his death was hemorrhage of the lungs, but the real cause was being thrown from a wagon loaded with lumber, a portion of which fell upon him, 13 years ago, causing injury from which he never recovered. With the exception of two years spent in Raymond, Wash., she was a lifelong resident of Lebanon and Lacomb.
