Biography of Herbert George House
Herbert George House, born in Cardington, Ohio, on September 3, 1870, has significantly contributed to Muskogee’s commercial growth through his bond business and fire insurance agency. After a varied career, including newspaper reporting and serving as a deputy clerk and political campaign manager, he established his agency in 1913. He and his wife, Cora Adair, have developed a welcoming home in Muskogee, where he is also an active member of local social clubs, reflecting his popularity and dedication to community service.
Baker, Sarah A. Mrs. – Obituary
Sarah A. Baker, a former Elgin resident who lived in Freewater for several years, passed away in a Walla Walla hospital on July 3, 1945. Born in Texas in 1868, she moved to Oregon in 1876 and lived in Elgin until 1937. Her husband, Allen Baker, died in the same year. She is survived by four children, four brothers, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Freewater on July 5.
