Peter Warhol – Obituary

Peter Warhol, a former resident of Halfway, passed away on November 3, 2002, at the age of 99. Born to immigrant parents in Minneapolis, he faced early hardships but achieved significant accomplishments, including graduating Phi Beta Kappa in metallurgical engineering. Warhol’s career spanned mining innovations and leadership roles, notably with Butler Bros. Mining Co. and the Ogleby Norton Co. He was also a dedicated trustee of the Hazelden Foundation. He is survived by his daughter, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for November 21 in Waterloo, Iowa.

Warhol, Martha Ackerman Mrs. – Obituary

Martha Ackerman Warhol, 102, passed away on February 13, 2002, in Halfway, Oregon. Born in South Dakota in 1899, she excelled academically, earning a degree in home economics from the University of Minnesota. After a successful career as a hospital dietician, she became a dedicated homemaker and community leader, notably running a canning program during the Great Depression. Later, she engaged actively in various community activities in her retirement, including reading to children. Martha is survived by her husband, three children, and many grandchildren.
