Gertrude Levy, 88 died in Portland, Oct. 15 after a long illness. Mrs. Levy was born in Baker Jan. 5 1889 to Mose and Hannah Fuchs. She attended Baker High School and St. Helen’s Hall, Portland. Her late husband, Gus Levy was a pharmacist in Baker and La Grande and raised horses in Baker. Anna Margaretta “Maggie” Hetrick, a resident of Wallowa County most of her life, died March 20, 1982, at Valley View Manor in La Grande, one week before her 100th birthday. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on March 27, 1882, she was the daughter of Peter and Gertrude Anna Huber Goebel and the oldest of 10 children.
