James Hill, who sold his farm at Pine Grove a few weeks since and started by private conveyance for Southern Idaho, was taken sick at Idaho Falls and died the 26th of August. Deceased was a brother of John Hill, the well known pioneer rancher of the Flat, and came here from Southern Idaho a few years ago. He had long been afflicted with kidney disease and the hot, dusty journey by wagon proved too much for him and he succumbed to the disease before reaching his destination. Richard “Scott” York, 38, of Klamath Falls, a former Baker City resident, died March 10, 2002, at his home. He suffered a lifelong hereditary disease and had been awaiting a liver transplant for the past four years. His funeral was at 4 p.m. today at the O’Hair & Riggs Funeral Chapel in Klamath Falls. The Rev. John Baund of the First Presbyterian Church officiated. Private burial was at Eternal Hills Memorial Garden. Gugler, Arthur Dale – Obituary

Arthur Dale Gugler, 77, of Baker City, died June 27, 2005, at his home. His graveside funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Arthur was born on Oct. 18, 1927, to Chester William and Mary Olivia Bolen Gugler at Hamilton, Mont. After finishing high school in 1945, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Japan with Gen. Douglas MacArthur. After returning to Hamilton, he met and married Patricia Burke in 1950. She survives him. Norman Ernest Huff, 74, a longtime Pine Valley resident, died May 19, 2005, at his home. There will be no service. Norman was born in Oct. 1, 1930, at Baker City. He attended school at Port Ludlow, Wash., and in 1945 returned to Pine Valley with his family, where he graduated from high school. He completed his education with two years at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. Norman served in the armed forces from Aug. 15, 1951, through Aug. 15, 1953. Walter Edwin Taylor, 71, of Cove died March 1, 2001, at his home. His funeral was Tuesday, March 6, at the Union LDS Chapel with Bishop Jerry Baxter officiating. Interment followed at the Cove Cemetery. Mr. Taylor was born Nov. 13, 1929, on his grandparent’s ranch near Chiloquin to Marion and Orilla Shadley Taylor. He was the 8th of 9 children.
