Mabel Kinkade, 86, a long-time resident of Kittitas County, died Tuesday November 10, 1981 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Born May 1, 1895, in Bottineau, ND, she came to the Kittitas Valley at the age of five with her parents. Her father, Ben Olson, managed the old Tjossem Flouring Mill, where the Millpond Mobile Manor now stands. She married Dallas Kinkade in 1917. He preceded her in death in 1951, as did two brothers and two sisters. She had lived off the Kittitas Highway all her married life and moved to Idaho six years ago. Mrs. Helen Hartwell Wyatt, 68, a Kittitas valley resident for 31 years, died here Thursday [January 3, 1952] evening at 9 o’clock in the Airway Nursing Home. She had been ill for the past 18 years and had been at the nursing home for the last four years. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Wyatt of Kittitas, whom she married January 12, 1918 at Twin Falls, Idaho. Daniel R. Cooke, 32, died Dec. 28, [1991] in Youngstown, Ohio. He was born May 26, 1959 in Seattle. He attended grade and middle schools in Ellensburg, graduating from Kittitas High School in 1977. Mrs. Wm. R. Hall died last night [October 16, 1910] at 8 o’clock at her home on West Tenth Street after a short illness. She was 28 years of age and leaves a husband, son, and infant daughter, besides her father, E. I. Mrs. Sina Peffers, of East Kittitas, died very suddenly at her home Monday morning at 4 o’clock [February 10, 1902]. The funeral took place Wednesday. Frank C. Barnhart, pioneer sheepman of this valley, died at the Ellensburg Hospital Friday evening [December 23, 1932]at 7:30 o’clock following a brief illness. He was 74 years of age. After a year of suffering caused by tuberculosis, Mrs. Anna Marie Morefield, 29 years old, passed away this morning [December 2, 1920] at the home of her mother, Mrs. Catharine Morrison, in the Sunnyside Addition. Fred C. Schnebly, 74, who was born in the Kittitas Valley of a pioneer family, was a director, board president and outstanding leader in the creation and operation of the Kittitas Reclamation District, and for more than 50 years was one of the best known cattlemen of the Pacific Northwest, died at the Valley General Hosptial Tuesday evening [April 12, 1955]. Mrs. Nettie Churchill [w/o Alfred Churchill], mother of Mrs. Chester Cook, died Sunday night [February 16, 1914] at the home of her daughter in the Southeast part of the valley. She came to Ellensburg from Cle Elum in 1905 with brother Orval and her father, A. E. Rich. Mrs. Eva E. Kinkade passed away at 12:30 Wednesday morning [September 12, 1929] after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, John W. Kinkade, a son, Dallas Kinkade, and two brothers, C. C. Harvey Packwood, 74, member of a pioneer Kittitas Valley family, died Tuesday in a Seattle Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past year. Packwood was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Packwood who came to the Kittitas Valley in 1874. He and his twin brother, the late Harry Packwood, were born here in April 1882.
