Leroy Hulse, merchant, was born in Ohio, January 10, 1848. Removed to Henry County, Iowa; thence to Jefferson County; thence to Illinois. Came to Jewell County, Kan., in 1876, and clerked for Chapman & Co. for several years. Commenced business for himself in September 1882, and now has a stock of general merchandise, and is doing a good business. Was married in Mankato, June 20, 1880, to Miss Lizzie Howe, and has one child – Maud.

Watson Funeral To Be Tuesday The remains of Bert Watson who passed on at Portland a few days ago, arrived in La Grande this morning from Amity, where he made his home. The funeral services will take place from the Snodgrass and Zimmerman chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The body will be interred in the Masonic cemetery. This section of Iowa lost one of its best women on Sunday, March 5, 1922, when Mrs. George Allender died at her home four miles north of Lockridge. She was sick but a little while with her fatal illness which was heart trouble, though she had been afflicted with weakness of the heart for several years. Her end came unexpectedly to her friends and neighbors. Deceased was before her marriage, Jane Messer, a daughter of John and Rhoda (Miller) Messer, and was born in Henry County, Iowa in October 1853. Biographical Sketch of G. H. Case

G. H. Case is a native of Ohio, and is a lawyer by profession. In 1861 he enlisted in the Union army, in Company E, Second Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Held the office of Recorder of Deeds, also Clerk of the District Court, in Jefferson County, Iowa; was elected to the Kansas State Senate in 1880. The banking house of Case, Bishop & Co. was organized in 1877.
