Charles Jenkins Hill, who graduated from Williams College, and Andover Theological Seminary. He was a congregational clergyman and held pastorates at Nashua, N. H., Whiteall and Gloversville, N. Y., Ansonia, Middletown and Stonington, Conn. Children: I. Annie Williams, b. March 23, 1858, m. (???) Harper. II. John Todd, b. April 16, 1863, m. Grace(???). III. Miriam, b. Oct. 23, 1867.

Judge Robert F. Thompson, a prominent lawyer and jurist of Ontario county, New York, comes of forbears who were not only of high character but of lofty position. His father and three brothers served in the civil war; his grandfather and his three brothers in the war of 1812; and his great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather in the revolution. (I) Hugh Thompson, the emigrant ancestor of this family, was of Scotch-Irish stock, and came from Londonderry, Ireland. in the eighteenth century, settling in Derryfield (now (1910) Manchester), New Hampshire.

Jacob Newton Butler, M.D., of Lempster, N.H., one of the best known physicians in this part of Sullivan County, was born in Lyndeboro, Hillsborough County, this State, February 6, 1821, son of Jacob and Sarah (Blanchard) Butler. His great-grandfather, William Butler, came, it is said, from England, and settled in Essex County, Massachusetts. He married, so we are informed, Sarah Perkins, and had seven children, three sons and four daughters. The three sons enlisted in the War for Independence, and one never came back.
