Funeral services for Thomas J. Crabtree, 71, pioneer Willamette Valley resident who died suddenly Saturday [July 17, 1948] at the home of his stepson, Merle Anderson, Salem Route 89, will be held from the W. T. Rigdon Chapel today at 1:30 p.m. Concluding services will be in the family plot in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Crabtree. Prior to death, Crabtree had been employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad for 27 years. Mrs. Nancy Ellen Bilyeu, 64, died here Sunday [February 18, 1945] at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ima Woodard. Funeral services are to be held in the Weddle Chapel here at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Funeral for Delmer Thomas Bilyeu, Crabtree, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Jost Funeral Home. Don Tosch will officiate and burial will be in Franklin Butte Cemetery near Scio. Mr. Bilyeu, born Oct. 20, 1909, at Dallas, Ore., moved to Crabtree from Cutbank, Mont., in 1947. He was a member of the Crabtree Christian Church. He died today [July 16, 1962] at Lebanon Hospital. Kinzer, John Wesley – Obituary

John Wesley Kinzer, 79, lifelong resident of Linn county, died at a Lebanon nursing home Monday evening [November 14, 1955]. He was born at Crabtree on April 10, 1876, and married Rose Jane Bilyeu in 1900. Mr. Kinzer was a retired farmer. Surviving are a son, Lyle C. Kinzer of Lyons, a daughter Mrs. Reta Beebe of Eugene; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Fortmiller-Fredricksen Funeral Home in Albany Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Ryan, minister of the first Baptist church of Albany officiating. Sumpter, Claude Ruel – Obituary

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 1996, in St. Johns Funeral Home Chapel for Claude Ruel Sumpter, a retired Hyster Co. shipping clerk who died July 27 at age 94. Mr. Sumpter was born April 29, 1902, in Crabtree. In 1930, he married Nellie Long, who died in 1990. Surviving are his son, John of Gresham; brother, Don of Tigard; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Disposition was by cremation. Kinzer, Louisa Wolf – Obituary

On Monday, July 26 [1896], at 9:25 o’clock in the evening, of a complication of diseases, Mrs. L. M. Kinzer, aged about 67 years. Mrs. Kinzer was an energetic pains taking woman just in her dealing with all, an accommodating neighbor and a kind mother. She was one of the 1852 emigrants and settled in the immediate vicinity of where Crabree station now is and where she passed to the Great Beyond.
