The Kenyon family came from Rhode Island, The first name we find is that of Joseph Kenyon, b. Feb. 5, 1737; m. Catharine Enos, b. Sept. 12, 1742, and d. Sept. 5, 1826. This family came to Plainfield (date unknown) and settled on a farm north of Cornish line, opposite the farm of Dr. Joseph Chapman in Cornish. He d. April 15, 1829. children: 1. JOSEPH, JR., b. Alfred Fitch, a prominent farmer of Cornish and a descendant of one of the old families of the town, was born May 12, 1861. The first of the family to settle in Cornish was James Fitch, who came from Connecticut. He was born in 1712, and died October 25, 1805. His son, James, was father of Samuel, who was the great-grandfather of the present Alfred. Hezekiah, a brother of Samuel, and who was born in Cornish in 1746, died September 30, 1830, built the house owned by the Fitch family of to-day. Rewell J. Ellis, a well-known Grand Army man and a prominent farmer of Cornish, was born at Brandon, Vt., September 5, 1840, son of Seneca and Aurilla (Bagley) Ellis. His grandfather was John Ellis, who married Margaret Holt, and was the father of Seneca and William Ellis. William, who was born at Shoreham, Vt., went West a number of years ago, and has not since been heard from. The family do not know whether he is living or not.
