Biography of Mark A. Leftwich

One of the well known newspaper men of the state is Mark A. Leftwich, proprietor of the Coweta Times-Star. He was born in Bedford county, Virginia, in May, 1852, a son of Thomas and Maria (Warwick) Leftwich, natives of Virginia. The father was an extensive planter and he served as Major in the Confederate army for three years. Richard L. C. Isherwood, junior member of the firm, was born in Gloucestershire, England, December 6, 1856. His father was an officer of the Queen’s Revenue during about fifteen years. He came with his parents to the United States at the age of fourteen years, after having received his education at Millbrook Collegiate Institute, Devonshire, England.
