Biography of John C. Callahan

John C. Callahan, born January 28, 1859, in Massachusetts, was a prominent public official in Kootenai County, Idaho. After moving to Iowa and then engaging in the hotel business across various states, he settled in Bonners Ferry in 1891. His public service began in 1896 when he was elected Kootenai County assessor, followed by his election as clerk of the district court in 1898. A former Republican, he embraced the silver Republican cause for state interests, earning respect as a civic-minded individual. Callahan married Carrie Soules and had a son, Fred L.

Metz, Janice M. – Obituary

Janice Marie (Christman) Metz, 73, of Troy, Montana, and formerly of North Powder, passed away on August 29, 2007, from congestive heart failure. Born on May 15, 1934, she was a highly regarded pianist and organist, and an esteemed educator with a degree in elementary education. Janice married Gus Metz Jr. in 1957 and had seven children. She taught for over 20 years and later managed property with her husband. A memorial service will be held on Saturday in North Powder. She is survived by her family and numerous grandchildren.

Kiilsgaard, Marco – Obituary

Marco Kiilsgaard, 84, passed away on April 12, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Care Center following a prolonged illness. Born on October 13, 1920, in Rockland, Idaho, she taught across the U.S. and internationally, working for the Department of Defense and the American Red Cross during the Vietnam War. Marco earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree and had a passion for travel. She is survived by her siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Patrick Allen Morris – Obituary

Patrick Allen Morris, 41, passed away on October 28, 2001, in St. Helens, Oregon, surrounded by loved ones. A memorial service will be held in Baker City at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Born on September 11, 1960, in Baker City, he was an avid outdoorsman and worked with The Goads Christian music group. He is survived by his mother, stepfather, brothers, stepfamily, and grandmother, along with many friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the Patrick Allen Morris Memorial Fund.
