David L. Giroux, 47, died as a result of an ATV accident at Unity on March 29, 2005. At the family’s request, David was cremated. There will be a gathering of friends at Unity at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Water Hole in Unity. David was born at Skowhegan, Maine, on Dec. 14, 1957. Funeral services for Carl Dean Savage, former Haines resident who died at his home in Yreka, California July 21, were held here Sunday. Burial was in the Haines Cemetery with West and company of Baker in charge. Mr. Savage was born in Lane county, Oregon, March 30, 1871. He came to Baker county with his parents when he was an infant. He and his brother E. E. Savage operated the Okay feed store in Baker for two years and he lived in Haines for several years prior to 1914, when he moved to Ashland where Mrs. Savage died. Location of the Hibbard Creek Cemetery is about two miles south of the town of Home. It is situated on a bench approximately one-eighth mile north of the site of the Hibbard Creek school on the Snake River Road. This cemetery is also known as the Home Cemetery.
