Tom Joseph Averett, 72, of Austin, a former Baker City resident, died Dec. 13, 2002, at his home. His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., in John Day. The Rev. Darryl Johnson will officiate. Mr. Averett was born on Jan. 13, 1930, at Weiser, Idaho, to Ray Henry and Oma White Averett. Death of Clarence Miller Clarence Miller, a former resident of Union, died of pneumonia, at Austin, Grant County, Oregon, Tuesday of this week. Harold Combs, 83, of Baker City, died Oct. 16, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Walla Walla, Wash. At his request, he will be cremated and his ashes returned to his favorite place near Bates.
