Alder Slope, Wallowa County, Oregon Mrs. N. E. Hammack died Monday, Oct. 1, 1923, at the family home on Alder Slope, after an illness of 15 days, following a stroke of paralysis. Funeral Services were held at the grave in the Enterprise cemetery yesterday. Mrs. Hammack was born in Morrow county, Kentucky, August 6, 1856. She was married in 1902 to Mr. Hammock, a Baptist minister and they came to Wallowa county the same year. She is survived by her husband and one brother, Jordan Crawford, who lives in Idaho. W.J. Hammack is Killed on Road W. J. Hammack was killed early this morning when a log truck tipped over on him, on the South Fork road about two miles south of Lostine. The body was brought to Enterprise at once and no inquest will be held. Mr. Hammack and his son, Walter, had a contract to deliver logs from the timber up South Fork to the railroad at Evans where they are loaded and shipped to a sawmill and box factory at Milton.
