Judge George E. Freeman, Recorder for the city of Santa Ana, was born in Hallowell, Maine, in 1829, and at the age of twenty-one years left his home for California, coming by steamer and landing in San Francisco November 16, 1851. For seventeen years he engaged in mining and lumbering in El Dorado County. Richland, Oregon Betty Rosa DeHart was born in Richland to Alvin and Rosa Evans in April 16, 1926. She passed away peacefully at her current residence Quail Hollow, on Sept. 28, 2004. Memorial services were held Monday, Oct. 4, 11 a.m. at Northwest United Protestant Church. Interment followed in sunset Memorial Gardens. She graduated from Eagle Valley High School and moved to Portland to work as a telegraph operator. She then moved to Oakland, Calif., where she met her future husband. Mrs. Osie Deshaver Died Last Week In California Mrs. A. Willis last week received word of the death of her sister, Mrs. Osie Deshaver at Oakland, Calif., which occurred January 6. Mrs. Deshaver was 26 years of age. She was a former resident of this section where she spent practically all her life. Her husband Lester Deshaver and two children Ruth, 8 and Roger, 5, survive. Wallowa County, Oregon Percy W. Thomas died recently at the Veteran’s Hospital at Livermore, Cal., and was buried in the government cemetery at San Francisco. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlow A. Thomas and was born in Promise, January 28, 1897.
