Baker City, Oregon Genevieve A. (Metzker) Berto was born Sept. 29, 1917, in Baker, (now Baker City) and entered into eternal rest on Nov. 21, 2004, in Boise, Idaho. Genevieve was born to Jeff Metzker and Lora Mae McClurg Metzker. There were seven children in the Metzker family, four boys and three girls. All graduated from school, some from college. Genevieve graduated from Baker High School in 1935. Genevieve met and married Earl Cock in 1940 and had two children, Larry and Lynda, and resided in Union and Baker. Death Comes To Wickham Willis James Wickham, 73, long time resident of Elgin, Union County, died late yesterday evening in La Grande after a long illness. He was born July 25, 1878, in Carlton Center, Mich. He came with his parents by wagon train to the Grand Ronde Valley when he was about 12 years old. He operated butcher shops in Elgin, Boise and Star, Ida. He was also active in logging operations in Union County for several years. He is a native of Rochester, New York, born November 14, 1843, and is of Irish extraction. Dr. C. A. S. Prosser, born in 1864 in Lunenburg, Ontario, was a respected physician in Boise, Idaho. Descended from Loyalist ancestors who settled in Canada during the American Revolution, he pursued medical studies under his brother’s guidance before graduating from Bellevue Hospital Medical College in 1887. After practicing in New York and Iowa, he moved to Boise in 1893 due to health reasons, where he established a successful practice and served as a physician and surgeon at Wesleyan Hospital. He married Clara Raymond in 1889, with whom he had two daughters.
