Vern A. Fager, 50 Dies At His Home

Vern Andrew Fager, 50, a carpenter maintenance foreman at Eastern Oregon College, died Thursday at his home, following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. in the Daniels Funeral Home. The Rev. Lawrence Abla will officiate. Burial we be in the Island City Cemetery.

Mr. Fager was born in Centroplis, Kan., September 11, 1919. He had been a resident of La Grande for the past 38 years. He was a member of the Carpenters union 2019, the First Baptist Church and OSEA.

Survivors are the widow, Viola M. Fager, La Grande; two Sons, Justin V. U. S. Navy, and Leland F. of La Grande; two step-daughters, Mrs. Jennette Wright, La Grande, and Mrs. Delorris Back, Arlington, VA.; four brothers, Fred L., Howard W., and Marvin J. Fager of La Grande, and Albert L. Fager of Long Beach Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Florence M. Pearson, Mrs. Letha Hasse and Mrs. Doris J. Hasse all of La Grande. There are six grandchildren.
