La Grande, Oregon Eleanor Eunice Smead, 87, of Eugene and formerly of La Grande, died March 5 of age related causes. Arrangements are under the direction of Musgrove Family Mortuary of Eugene. Mrs. Smead was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Auburn, Wash., to Ward and Stella (Magers) O’Neill. She graduated from Auburn High School at the age of 16. Mildred Lucille Smart, 92, formerly of La Grande, died Oct. 1 at a care center in Salem. A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in La Grande. Private burial was held at the Grandview Cemetery in La Grande. Mildred was born on June 11, 1915, to Ferris and Grace (Wakeland) Miller in Evansville, Ind. Mrs. E. E. Slater died at her home at No. 807 Penn avenue at 7 o’clock this morning. The first indications of a serious nature were noticeable yesterday evening and a weakened condition of the heart is the supposed cause of death.
