WILLIAM H. JESUP. The gentleman whose name appears at the head of this sketch is a resident of ” Jesup’s Grove,” (formerly known as ” Croghan’s Grove,” in honor of the famous ” Hero of San-dusky,” who entered this land). Mr. Jesup was born near this place, April 26, 1843, and at the commencement of the late war, entered Company H, First Kentucky Cavalry, in which he served two years. Biographical Sketch of William B. Blackburn

One of the first resident lawyers of Hopkinsville, and one of the able men of the State, was William B. Blackburn. He came from Woodford County about 1799, a young lawyer just admitted to the bar. WADE M. CLACK was born November 13, 1826, in Simpson County, Ky. The parents were Sterling and Elizabeth (Jones) Clack. The father was a farmer, born in Tennessee; he died in 1868, at the age of sixty-five. The mother died in 1854, aged fifty-five. She was a member of the Baptist Church. W. L. KIMBROUGH was born September 18, 1824, in Todd County; he is a son of T. Winston and Susan (Graves) Kimbrough. The parents were born in Albemarle County, Va. The father came to Christian, now Todd, County in 1797; he first purchased a small quantity of land, and at the time of his death, which occurred in 1868, he had increased this to over 2,000 acres, largely improved. W. H. SALMON was born September 14, 1844, in Todd County. He is a son of Capt. William and E. P. (Cobb) Salmon, parents both born in Virginia; they came to Todd County in about 1829. The father died in 1847. Our subject was raised on his mother’s farm. She died in February, 1880, leaving three children: America A., John and William IL, who was married April 20, 1882, to Miss Sallie Bell, of Arkansas. One son gladdens their home-David B. This farm consists of about 220 acres of land, well improved.
