Fix, Cora Johnson – Obituary

Mrs. Cora Fix, 72, of Orting, passed on at her home Aug. 2 [1946] after an illness of several months. She had resided in Orting since 1889, moving there from her birthplace in Cawker City, Kas. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gladys L. Berry of Orting, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Orpha Stone of Tacoma and Mrs. Shirley Rudnick of Orting. Also surviving are six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Orting M. E. Church. Burial will be in the Orting Cemetery under direction of the Orting Funeral Home. Contributed by: Shelli Steedman

Stuart, Phoebe A. Wooten – Obituary

Mrs. Phoebe Stuart of two miles southwest of Glen Elder died at her home at 9 o’clock Tuesday forenoon, January 11, 1927. Her death followed a serious illness of about 10 days, and a lingering illness of several years. During most of the time for the past few years, Mrs. Stuart had been an invalid, but the care and loving attentions shown her by her son, Arthur, and daughter, Miss Mary, are worthy of much praise. Charles Irvin Stuart was born April 5, 1891 on a farm southwest of Glen Elder, Kansas, and at the age of 86 years, died July 29, 1977 at the Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, Kansas. He was one of eight children born to Ivey and Phoebe Wooten Stuart. As a boy, Irvin attended the Grelett Rural School and an agriculture course at Kansas State College. Clyde Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Weaver, and a well-known young man died at his residence in West Kittitas, six miles west of this city, Friday, January 4th at 9:15 p.m., of heart failure. Mrs. Ada Viola Schroder, 83, of Ellensburg, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday [May 2, 1952] in Ellensburg General Hospital. She was taken to the hospital 12 hours before following a stroke. Mrs. Schroder was born in Kansas and came to Seattle from there 64 years ago. She moved from Seattle to Ellensburg 11 years ago with her husband, August Schroder, who died here April 11, 1947.
