Loney, John – Obituary

John Loney, pioneer rancher and pioneer resident of the Walla Walla Valley, died last night in a local hospital. Mr. Loney was well and favorably known, having lived here since August 19, 1883, coming to Walla Walla from Canada where he was born in 1867.

Mr. Loney was married to Alice Reed and to the union were born five children who survive him, Eugene, Lester, Ronald, and Clinton of Walla Walla and Mrs. Vesta Dunning of La Grande. He is also survived by his wife and the following brothers and sisters; Sam, Will, and Charley C. Loney and Mrs. Mary Lee and Mrs. R. L. Kerrick of Walla Walla and Mrs. Robert Potts of Sprague, Mrs. John Baxter of Colfax and Mrs. W. D. Paul of Tacoma.

At the time of his death, Mr. Loney lived at 534 North Sixth Street while he operated a farm in the foothills just across the Oregon line. He was a member of the Pioneer Methodist Church. The remains are at the Cookerly and Funk Funeral Parlors and funeral arrangements will be announced later. [Interment Mountain View Cemetery]
