Day, Frank Ronald – Obituary

Keating, Oregon

Frank Ronald Day, 69, of Keating, died April 23, 2007.

A private family gathering will be scheduled later.

Frank was born on Sept. 10, 1937, at Cleveland, Ohio, to Frank and Louise Day. When he was young, his family moved to California. He majored in agricultural science and was a member of the rodeo team at Cal Poly Pomona.

While in California, Frank met Jean. They were married in 1959. The couple moved to Northeastern Oregon in 1973, where they made their first homes at Echo, Pendleton and Keating.

F.R. or “Ron,” as many would know him, was involved in the cattle industry for most of his life. He worked as a cowboy, saddle maker, and brand inspector. His artistic talent inspired him to make sculptures and fine quality leatherwork. Those who knew him well could tell you he wasn’t a bad hand at poetry.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jean, of Baker City; their three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Bruce Greer of St. Albans, Mo., Darbie and Derek Whitbread of Hermiston and Carrie and Jeff Swanson of Sparta; seven grandchildren; and three siblings, Bob Day of Lincoln, Calif., Guy Day of Reno, Nev., and Ellen Solazzo of Valley Center, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
