Long, Bonnie Jean Flickinger Mrs. – Obituary

Baker City, Baker County, Oregon

Bonnie Jean Long, 83, died Dec. 27, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Health Services with her family at her side.
Her memorial service is pending.

Bonnie was born at Lewiston, Idaho, on Sept. 10, 1922. She was the daughter of Carolina A. and Everett Raymond “Flick” Flickinger. Bonnie was a 1940 graduate of Lewiston High School and attended Lewiston State Normal School in 1942.

She continued her education at the University of California at Berkeley where she received a bachelor’s degree in English in 1947.

Bonnie taught in a one-room schoolhouse in northern Idaho for a short time. She later met and married Virgil O. Long. Together they farmed, ranched, and raised two children, Jerry Long and Nancy Johnson, near Lewiston.

She later divorced and moved to Clarkston, Wash., where she lived until her recent move to Baker City to be closer to her family. Her last few years were spent at St. Elizabeth Care Center in Baker City.

“Bonnie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. May God bless her and keep her always,” her family said.

Survivors include her sister, Barbara Lane of Clarkston, Wash.; her children, Jerry Long of Baker City, and Nancy Johnson of Mountain Home, Idaho; her grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson of Boise and Matthew Johnson of Watertown, N.Y.; and her two great-grandchildren, Alicia and Aaron.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carolina and Everett “Flick” Flickinger; and her siblings, Jack, Everett and Ted Flickinger.
